Welcome
This is our sixth pay gap report and relates to the 12 months ending on 5 April 2022.
Irwin Mitchell Group is made up of several companies, but our law firm (Irwin Mitchell LLP) is the only Group company with more than 250 employees. This report relates to our employees in the LLP.
For transparency, we also voluntarily report on pay gaps for those at the LLP partner level (Full Equity Members and Fixed Share Members). We recognise that representation of women and of those from minority ethnic backgrounds is lower at this level, and partners are excluded from the statutory figures.
Voluntary diversity pay reporting
Our statutory obligation on pay gap reporting relates to gender. As part of our commitment to creating a culture of inclusion for all our colleagues, we voluntarily report on our ethnicity pay gap.
We also continue to improve our data analysis and encourage our colleagues to share their diversity information with us. This will help us understand better the proportion of under-represented groups in our workforce, allowing us to report on more diversity characteristics in the future.
A pay gap below market average
Our focus is fairness and creating an inclusive workplace for all our colleagues. Whilst we recognise there’s more work to do and numbers will fluctuate, we’re pleased that our overall pay gaps remain below market and sector average.
They also reflect our overall commitment to improving gender balance, both where women and where men are under-represented, and creating a fair and inclusive workplace for all of our colleagues. We have invested significantly in salaries during 2021/22, linked to the launch of our Career Frameworks, which will also support our fairness agenda.
“We’re committed to doing business in a way that has a positive impact on our colleagues, clients, and communities. This is aligned to our Vision, our Purpose and our aim to create value for all of our stakeholders, including our colleagues. Our Responsible Business strategy has two clear priorities, Sustainability and Inclusion: we’re committed to taking an unbiased and flexible approach to harness the strength from our differences and creating a culture open to all so everyone can thrive.
We have an ambition to be recognised as a leading responsible business with a focus on inclusion and sustainability. Reducing our pay gap is a key part of this aim.”
