HR Leaders
Our HR Leaders’ forums are designed specifically for HR leaders such as HR/People Directors or Heads of HR.
Operating on an invitation only basis, and under “Chatham House rules”, these discussions provide a confidential environment to engage with other HR leaders and discuss key strategic issues which may be affecting your organisation.
Run as a mix of face to face and online events, you’ll meet experts in a range of areas and take away insight from both a legal and practical perspective. You’ll also be supported in your people leadership while building a peer network.
Recent topics have included diversity and inclusion strategies, the future of the workplace, navigating recruitment and flexible working challenges, leading on the prevention of sexual harassment, and strategic overview of the Employment Bill.
This is by invitation only. Places are limited and fill up quickly.
In this session, we will look at resilience through the Resilience Dynamic lens – with research showing it isn’t something we have or don’t have, but it can be built.
As HR people, insights into how we might build resilience can help inform how we support our people in everything from 1-1 conversations with an emotional member of staff, to designing leadership development programmes.
You’ll go away with some insight into what you need yourself to stay energised in your demanding role.
The majority of the 60,000 or so decisions we make every day are instantaneous, unconscious, and based on our survival needs. We are quick at taking things at face value.
These powerful first impressions can lead us to make decisions that are out-of-perspective and probably unhelpful - decisions about other people, the situations we find ourselves in, and about ourselves. We can become led by emotions rather than guided by facts.
If your role involves managing people, who might on occasions be ‘difficult’, then you double your burden. It is easy to see how a step out of line or time can cause unwanted developments. So, what to do?
In this session, Glenn Mead, Director from Face Value (performance psychology) will help us learn why our first reaction will always be subconscious, and how recent evidence suggests that our brain may have already predicted and set in motion our reaction long before we become consciously aware of it. We’ll find out more about how normal ‘fight, flight or freeze’ reactions can develop into dysfunctional behaviours that can cause employees, and leaders in particular, to derail, and how to use language to reduce the risk of that happening.
Catherine Bonner, Director from Ambient Tribe, is a specialist in leadership communication, employee engagement and public speaking. A dynamic and passionate speaker, Catherine will lead a workshop with thought-provoking, practical insights for how you, in your HR capacity, can articulate your value to the Board and peers - empowering you through your presentation, voice and communication to influence at all levels to drive and embed HR strategy.
