Sunnyside Rural Trust (SRT)
Sunnyside Rural Trust’s mission
SRT’s mission is to provide services that will empower individuals to fulfil their potential for their benefit and for the benefit of the wider community and environment.
How will the donation be used?
SRT’s Horticultural Programme provides young people and adults with learning disabilities or who are neurodiverse with a year‑long blend of practical horticulture training, work experience and employability support, helping them build confidence, skills and pathways into work.
What impact is the donation expected to have?
- The funding will enable six young people and adults to embark on a year-long horticultural programme.
- The charity aims for all six individuals to complete the course with at least 50% to gain a paid employment post at the end.
- The charity expects all participants to see improvements to their wellbeing.
- The project aims for the families and carers of participants to experience greater freedom and opportunities to improve their wellbeing as a direct result of the person they have caring responsibilities for being positively engaged via the programme.
“The programme will transform the lives of six young people and adults with learning disabilities by offering a tailor-made learning programme alongside wellbeing support. The aim is to see these individuals learn vital employability skills and horticultural knowledge to progress into paid employment. We have seen the effect on the individuals, their wider support network and reducing the need for statutory funding. A huge thank you to the IMCF for this incredibly generous donation.”
