Sebby’s Corner
Sebby’s Corner mission
Sebby’s Corner exists to ensure that no child goes without the essentials they need to thrive. Based in Barnet, the charity supports families facing hardship across London and surrounding areas by providing essential items including clothing, nappies, formula milk, school uniforms, baby equipment, and birthday and Christmas gifts.
Sebby’s Corner works closely with frontline professionals to provide practical support with dignity, compassion and care.
How will the donation be used?
This donation will support Sebby’s Corner’s School Uniform Support programme. The funding will help provide children with brand-new school uniforms, school shoes, PE kits, backpacks and stationery ahead of the new school year, ensuring families experiencing financial hardship are able to prepare their children for school with dignity and confidence.
What impact is the donation expected to have?
This funding will support children from low-income families across London and surrounding areas, including families experiencing poverty, homelessness, domestic abuse, displacement, insecure housing and wider financial crisis. Referrals are made through schools, social workers, health visitors and other frontline professionals to ensure support reaches those most in need.
The funding is expected to support hundreds of children ahead of the new school year, helping to reduce financial pressure on families while ensuring children can start school feeling included, confident and prepared to learn. Having the correct uniform and school essentials can have a significant impact on children’s wellbeing, attendance, self-esteem and sense of belonging, while also helping to reduce stigma and barriers to education.
“School uniform costs place enormous pressure on families who are already struggling to make ends meet, and no child should feel different or excluded because their family cannot afford the basics they need for school.
This funding from the IMCF will make a huge difference to hundreds of children, helping them start the school year feeling confident, included and ready to learn. We are incredibly grateful for their support and for recognising how important this support is for families facing hardship.”
