Are you up to speed with the new Biodiversity Net Gain framework?
The Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) regulatory framework went live on 12 February 2024. Whilst we have had biodiversity net gain principles in the NPPF since 2012, this is the first time this has become a mandatory legal requirement which will cover all planning applications over the next few years, save for those which are exempt. This new regime is to provide a national framework for a consistent approach in relation to how to develop BNG policies and how to approach planning applications and developments.
