Growth, resilience, challenges, innovation, adaptation. The UK’s sectors have faced a number of challenges over recent years, from economic uncertainty and supply chain disruption to labour shortages and regulatory change.

But despite this, they have largely remained attractive to overseas investors. According to Department for Business & Trade data, over 5,000 jobs were created and a further 1,800 safeguarded by investments into its sectors.

The software and computer services sector led the way by attracting 263 FDI projects and creating 15,933 jobs. This was followed by financial services, with 199 projects and 8,113 job creations, and the environment, infrastructure and transportation sector, with 163 projects and 6,848 job creations. The largest number of jobs safeguarded through FDI came in the automotive sector.
