In 2023, Irwin Mitchell commissioned Cebr to create an Investment Attractiveness Index to measure how attractive different UK cities are to invest in. The locations selected make up the 50 largest cities in the UK.
Following an update in Summer 2024, Cebr has once again refreshed the Investment Attractiveness Index for Autumn/Winter 2024 (also referred to as Q4 2024). This ranks the 50 largest cities in the UK based on their growth potential, local skills, and infrastructure.
In this edition, two new indicators have been added to the Growth Potential pillar:
- Cebr’s employment growth forecasts
- The distance of each city to the nearest Freeport or Investment Zone.
By investigating these temporal trends, we provide insights into how the attractiveness of these cities for investment has changed in the past three months.
